There's a feeling inside, a knowing that a poem is there waiting to come out. Pen in hand poised over paper, Susan waits for the poem to write itself. No poetry comes without that sensing.

You were curious how the creative process works
And you a poet...
Unique to each
We all tap into the same oasis
That fills us with an unnamable elixer
Alchemically creating
Music or dance or art
Words or tastes sublime
Infinite possibilities tickle and excite
Like your body next to mine

This act of creating is not a choice
When it begs for freedom
It is a "have to"

A given
Or die to the joy life
Die to la raison d'etre

And when this creative spirit takes a rest
As it must do
We walk as zombies
Waiting its return from hibernation
Waiting once more for the addictive drug of creativity
To take us back to timelessness

Until Bob passed away Susan wrote a blog called 'Alz World' writing about what she learned being a caregiver for her husband in Bali where there is no support for living with this disease except a compassionate staff .
